Hire car collections and returns
During the summer our offices are open from 8am until 11pm. During the winter the offices are open from 8am until 10pm.
We do however accept reservations after our closing time (from 10pm/11pm until 1am) for an additional fee of 35€.
For customers who have very early flights you are welcome to return before 8am but to a different site (which is very close to our office and easy to find). There is a small charge for out of hours returns and you can find out about this by emailing our customer care team.
For clients reserving a package based on our Full to Full fuel policy and choosing to return out of hours there will be a small deposit required for the fuel of 100 euros to enable us to charge for any missing fuel when the car is returned. This will be blocked against a credit card and if the car is returned full the deposit will be released automatically.
It is very important, especially for out of hours collections, that you provide your flight number when you book. This means that we can monitor your flight and collect you from the terminal. Likewise, if you need to return before 8am you should advise us when you collect the car so that we can explain the procedure.
Our team will be monitoring your flight - so please ensure you have provided your correct flight number - and our aim is that the shuttle bus is waiting for you as you arrive at the meeting point or within a few minutes of your arrival. At peak times our buses continually run back and forth so you should never be waiting more than a few minutes even at the busiest of times. It's not necessary to phone the office to advise of your arrival, nevertheless, if you are in doubt of where to meet our bus or in the very unlikely event of you waiting over 15 minutes please do call us.
Upon arrival you will need to show your passport, a valid driving licence and a valid credit card (VISA or MASTERCARD only) all in the name of the main driver.
Please note that a credit card will not be required if you have purchased our Ultimate package or our Drivalia S.C.D.W. cover. This only applies to cover purchased on Drivalia.com at the time of booking or at our rental desk.
We will also need to see the driving licence of any additional driver(s) although they do not need to be present.
The above are generally all that is required although in some cases we may need to see additional documentation such as your flight confirmations.
At the moment we can only offer "one way rentals" between our Alicante and Valencia offices. This is depending on the chosen car group and subject to availability. If we are able to offer this service it will be subject to an additional charge of 70€.

Debit card car hire at Alicante airport, Mallorca airport, Valencia Airport, Bilbao Airport, Girona Airport and Santaigo Airport is possible if you book our Ultimate package. With Drivalia Ultimnate you are welcome to pay with a Visa or Mastercard credit card or a Visa, Mastercard or Maestro debit card.
You are also welcome to pay with a debit card if you purchase our Drivalia SCDW cover. If you do not fully cover your car directly with Drivalia then you will be required to leave a deposit and make any payment due with a credit card which must be in the name of the main driver.
Most of our clients enjoy car hire with no deposit because they book our Ultimate package or purchase complete protection by choosing our SCDW in reception. However if you have not booked our Ultimate package or purchased our additional Super Collision Damage Waiver (S.C.D.W.) directly with Drivalia (Drivalia.com or at the rental desk), you will be required to leave a deposit of the amount of the car group excess which must be secured on the credit card (only VISA or Mastercard) of the main driver. The deposit amount depends on the vehicle type and ranges from 1000 - 2000 €.
Please note that we cannot accept deposits on credit cards that are not in the name of the main driver nor are we able to accept debit cards or pre-paid currency cards. If you have purchased excess cover from another company you will still be required to leave a deposit of the amount of the excess as this is a separate contract between you and a third party.
Although in almost every case booking our Ultimate package or choosing SCDW cover removes the need for a deposit, we do always reserve the right to request a deposit for any reason at our sole discretion. We also reserve the right to request a deposit in the case of the main driver being aged under 25 years old. If you have any doubts please contact us to clarify this.
At Drivalia it is our utmost desire for you to enjoy driving in Spain, for this reason we take pride in offering our customers only the best experiences. All our cars are replaced frequently and 97,8% of our over 2.000 strong fleet are brand new or under six months old, ensuring one of the newest and widest ranged fleets in the market.
In general we rent cars for a maximum of 25 days however in some circumstances we can allow longer rentals. If you wish to rent a car for longer than 25 days please email firstname.lastname@example.org with details of your requirements.
Alicante & Valencia Offices:
We no not allow cross-border journeys from Alicante or Valencia. The car must remain within the mainland of Spain.
Palma de Mallorca Office:
All vehicles rented from our Palma de Mallorca office must remain on the island of Mallorca.
Cross-border rentals to Portugal are permitted subject to an additional charge and conditions. For more information please contact our customer care team.
Girona & Bilbao Offices:
Cross-border rentals to France are permitted subject to an additional charge and conditions. For more information please contact our customer care team.
You can cover a maximum of 2000 kilometres per rental unless you have booked our Ultimate package which boasts unlimited mileage (although we may require to change your car at 2000km).
All models shown by both Drivalia and third party agencies are examples (except for special models). If you have a specific requirement please email us and we will always do our best to accommodate your needs. We are unable to guarantee the exact model of car although we do guarantee that your car will be to the same size and specification of the example shown.
In the event of us not having your reserved group available we will always provide a car of a higher group at no additional cost to you.
Top-up cover and Insurance
The Standard rate includes basic fully comprehensive insurance with the following excess applying to both CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) and TP (Theft protection):
- For groups A, AS, B & C -> 1.000,00 Euros
- For groups C1, C2, D, DA, DD, E, S, SA, SC, SD & SX -> 1.250,00 Euros
- For groups F, FS, G, IA & X9 -> 2.000,00 Euros
In addition, the insurance does not cover the following:
- Punctures and damage to tyres, alloys and wheel trims
- Windscreen or window damage / breakage
- Wing mirrors
- Flat Battery
- Damage to undercarriage including side sils
- Roadside assistance
- Loss or damage to vehicle keys and locks
- Mechanical damage
- Interior of the vehicle
- Administration fees due to traffic fines
- Administration fees due to traffic incident or damage report
- Replacement car in case of accident
- Vehicle paralysation (time vehicle is off the road in order to be repaired)
Theft is not covered if the keys are left in the vehicle or due care and attention is not taken.
To offer complete peace of mind customers can purchase our Ultimate package or our SCDW coverage on our website or upon arrival at the rental desk.
Those who choose to assume the risk of the above or those who have purchased cover elsewhere will be required to leave a deposit of the amount of the excess on a credit card in the name of the main driver.
Yes, if you purchase our SCDW cover or book your car hire on our Ultimate package then you can relax in the knowledge that are covered for everything with the exception of the interior of the vehicle or your personal belongings.
The only times you would not be covered are in the event of deliberate negligence on your part. Naturally, if you are negligent (for example over the alcohol limit, driving where you shouldn't be, return the car very dirty inside or with internal damage, or the car is stolen because you left the key inside it) then you may bear responsibility but under normal conditions you will never pay for any damages that might occur if you have our full cover because Drivalia Ultimate and our SCDW cover are designed to give you complete peace of mind.
You must keep your rental agreement in the car as well as the passport and driving licence of the driver. Please note that in Spain it is a legal requirement for everyone to carry photographic ID so it is a good idea to always have the identification documents for your entire party.
To hire a car at Drivalia you have to be 21 years of age or older and have held a valid driving licence for at least 12 months.
Additional charges apply to those of ages between 21 and 24 years as well as those over 75.
Please note that all clients aged under 25 years may be asked to leave a deposit against a valid credit card in the name of the main driver regardless of whether SCDW cover or our Ultimate package is chosen. Whilst SCDW and the Ultimate package completely cover all damages this deposit is incase any damage is caused by negligence.

Yes, this is no problem. Please speak with our reception staff when you collect your car and we will be happy to assist.
We hope that your holiday will be trouble-free but in the event of any issues please contact your local Drivalia office who will organise the most suitable and quickest solution to get you back on the road. Customers with our SCDW cover or our Ultimate package will be provided with our full support at no cost.
If you return your car early we do not generally offer refunds for any unused days. Our Ultimate package comes with curtailment cover allowing for a refund of unused days in certain circumstances such as the main driver being taken ill and needing emergency repatriation. The prepaid bookings made directly through the Drivalia website shall be cancelled by sending an email to email@example.com indicating the reference number.
A fee of 15 euros will apply if the cancellation is made before 48 hours prior to the vehicle pick up time and date.
For cancellations between 48 and 2 hours prior to the reserved pick up time and date a 25 Euro fee will apply.
Unfortunately no refunds will apply in case of failure to collect the vehicle or for cancellations after 2 hours prior to reserved pick up time.
All refunds will be issued back to the same credit card used for the initial payment.
